Our Girl star and hubby to be together more in 2018

Michelle Keegan has a simple New Year’s resolution – to see more of her husband Mark Wright.

Pals of the Our Girl actress say she is delighted they are reunited for Christmas after eight months apart.

Mark has been in America trying to carve out a career as a TV presenter while Michelle has been in South Africa working round the clock on the BBC military drama.

Now the former Corrie star wants to rethink her life in 2018 and spend a lot more time as a married couple.

A source close to Michelle, 30, said: “Michelle and Mark have spent most of the year apart and it has not been easy. But they are stronger than ever.

“In 2018, Michelle is determined they don’t spend as much time away from one another.”

On Wednesday, the smiling pair looked loved up during a visit to Disneyland Paris with victims of the Manchester bombings and their fami- lies organised by British Airways.

They looked thrilled to be together after so long apart during the France trip, which also featured the cast of Hollyoaks and comedian John Bishop.

Mark, 30, tweeted a tribute to his wife last week, saying how excited he was to reunite with her so they could spend Christmas together.

He wrote: “Done. 8 months away from home, away from loved ones, working ridiculous hours in ridiculous conditions @michkeegan you amaze me more & more every day. I’m so proud of you, words can’t even ex- plain. It’s going to be the best Christmas ever!! I love you so much my little trooper.”

Michelle recently revealed that she had no idea she would be away for so long filming Our Girl, as she signed a contract for the third season before it was even commissioned.

Speaking to Radio 1 host Nick Grimshaw, she said: “I wasn’t 100 per cent there would be another series but I signed the option for there to be another.

“Obviously the first time it was for five episodes but this time it was for 12 so it’s overly doubled.

“I didn’t know that at the time either. It’s been a long, long filming schedule.

“I was away for three months last time and this time I was in South Africa for three months and then I had three weeks off and then I was in Malaysia for three months.

“So, overall, I was away for seven months. It was a long time being away from home. I had to do it, the contract was signed. Book me a flight!”
